With so many viruses, spyware and other malicious programs on the Internet, it would be foolish to go online without adequate protection. There are numerous alternatives to the Windows Firewall, but few of them can match Comodo Firewall's smart capabilities. Its enhanced monitoring and blocking functions, as well as its unique Default Deny Protection (DDP) will prevent any attack or infection, allowing you to work, online or offline, in a safe and secure manner.

Like other Comodo developed software, Comodo Firewall is free and fully functional. It takes a few minutes to install the software, after which you must reboot your computer. Besides the firewall itself, you can also install the Comodo Dragon web browser, as well as the Comodo GeekBuddy application, which gives you access to Comodo's well known online support service, which can help you with any computer related issue.

Comodo Firewall includes many flexible features, but this does not mean that you will get lost in overcrowded menus or complex options. The firewall is enabled by default, the DDP feature will allow only PC-safe applications to run and cloud based behavior analysis system will keep the software up to date with the latest threats. In other words, it is sufficient to launch the program and let it work in the background, to secure your incoming and outgoing connections, block attacks and much more.

The interface has a modern and elegant design, which enables all users, from beginners to experts, to customize their security measures. Instead of referencing a list of known threats, which you may forget to update, Comodo Firewall's DDP feature uses a list of over two million applications that are known to be safe. If the software detects a file that is not on the safe list, it will block it automatically, before it can infect your system. Of course, you can decide to continue blocking the file or allow it. Also, if you suspect that a file is unsafe or a false positive, you can submit it to Comodo.

The software can scan your files and tell you which ones are safe, unsafe, unknown and so on. Furthermore, when the scan is complete, you may decide on a course of action for each file. You can also add files to a quarantine, if you are sure that they are unsafe. Another unique feature is Comodo Firewall's Virtual Kiosk. It is a virtual operating environment, in which you can run untrusted programs and isolate any malware from your system. Besides that, if you work in the Virtual Kiosk, web browsers or other software will not create cookies or leave any traces behind. Alternatively, you may drag and drop a program's executable over a certain area of the interface, to run it in sandbox mode, which has the same effect as Virtual Kiosk.

Pros

Comodo Firewall's Default Deny Protection feature will block any file, if it is not included on a list of over two million trusted applications. It can scan your files and display their safety ratings. You can decide to allow or deny individual files or move them to a quarantine. The software's Virtual Kiosk and support for sandbox objects give you the possibility of running untrusted applications, while keeping them isolated from the system.

Cons

There are no disadvantages to mention. While using Comodo Firewall, you can visit any web site and work with any application, knowing that your system is safe from any Internet threat.
